Cleopatra & Cricket in their new home…

Simon reports: “The past two days have been wonderful for us and the woodpile kittens. Eli has led the way with getting Cricket and Cleopatra comfortable with us and their new home. He spent yesterday and today gently but persistently staying in their room and interacting with C&C. They have turned a corner and are sitting on the kids’ laps accepting attention. We are so proud of Eli and we love the kitties … As you can see from the photos, Cricket and Cleo are taking to their new friends.”

These pix, shared by Cleopatra and Cricket’s new family, show the transforming power of patience and love. The kids knew instinctively that spending time with the kittens in their safe space was the best way to draw them out of fear and into family. And one thing is really clear: this is a family of true cat people.

I hope that the success story of our Woodpile Kittens inspires others to take a chance, and help change the fate of a semi-wild or abandoned animal. The shelters are full of creatures in need, and sometimes you hear a call to service right in your own backyard.

    HI there!

Your stories are so inspiring!! Being a crazy cat lover myself I could relate to the way you talk about your cats!

I live on an island off of Vancouver BC – Galiano Island – we have a large feral cat population and my dear friend Joanna has somewhere in the area of fourty cats – mostly feral that she feeds and cares for on her large property – we have trapped, spayed and nuetered as many as we can and continue to do so but every now and then a new crop of little ones pop up!

We also now have a crazy situation with rabbits! Some resident let his go and now we have MANY BUNNIES which we are trapping, spaying and nuetering! Beautiful creatures but DESTRUCTIVE!

I came across your website purely by accident and just wanted to say “GREAT JOB!!!”

    Thanks for the encouragement, Seonaid!

I Googled Galiano Island, and it is beautiful. I’m sure you love it there. Keep up the good work with your efforts to help care for and control the population of cats and rabbits. Rabbits. Wow. That must be a trip.

I am starting a gallery of pix sent to me by fellow animal lovers; if you have any digital photos of your TNR operations that we could include, please send them to:

    marcus(at)bigblackcat.org

Of course, replace the “(at)” with the “at sign”

New postings on the way, please stop by soon!

    All the Best

    Marcus:

I am Debra in Milwaukees’ Aunt. I came across your website strictly by accident and
couldn’t wait to tell Debra about it. She is an avid cat lover and provider. The things she does for these little babies amazes me. I also love cats but have close relatives with bad
allergies . . . So we have a dog ! ! ! And she is very special to us.
Just thought I would let you know how Debra found you – I knew she would be very interested
    in you and your site.

    Keep up the good work

    Barb from Milwaukee
